Prior to working at SRCS, Mr. Simmonds worked nine years in youth ministry with middle school students in California. He has presented work in both academia and the arts for the American Academy of Religion and Yale Divinity School. His teaching pedagogy largely draws upon custom games that he creates for his students. He also leads the Nintendo E-Sports Club (4th-8th grade) and the Board and Card Game Club (6th-8th grade) at SRCS.
