Maria Wayand

• East Carolina University, B.S. Science education with a concentration in Chemistry

Ms. Wayand, soon to be Mrs. Jacobsen in November, graduated from ECU with a degree in Science Education. Her focus was chemistry because she fell in love with chemistry in high school. Looking at the things of this world on a small scale helped her understand other science concepts better and showed her how big God is and how intricate His creation is. This inspired Ms. Wayand to be a science educator and drove her to teach science in a realm that includes God as the creator behind her teaching content. She has experience teaching Chemistry as an intern at Pitt County Early College High School in Greenville, NC. Ms. Wayand is excited to take what she learned from her amazing mentor and bring it into her classroom at Saint Raphael.
